Based on TVLine, the new season of House will be picking up “an entire year” after season 7 finished. Creator David Shore revealed this decision: “The advantage of going forward a year is that everything’s changed and changed dramatically.”
Keep in mind, House is starting the season off in jail-he did drive his car into Cuddy’s house-so this means it allows him to get been behind bars for a quite a bit of time without losing him from the diagnostics aspect of the show. This also means it gives them a chance to have the new Dean of Medicine , that happen to be someone familiar to the title doctor, time to settle in, too allow for Cuddy’s absence to be explained much easier. Also remember, House season 8 is going to have some new faces as part of the diagnostics team in “ Odette Annable ” and “ Charlyne Yi “.
