No one can lay claim to the creation of the apple pie, but Chudleigh’s can boast they are the creators of the Apple Blossom- a patented, made in Canada dessert, which has become a world-wide phenomenon.
The Blossom is a single serving take on the apple pie, which is the brainchild of brother’s Dean and Scott Chudleigh.
The brothers are the third generation to run the Chudleigh’s family business, which has grown from a small apple farm in 1957 to a 100 acre orchard, entertainment farm and 86,000 sq foot bakery in Milton.

Like grapes- the growing areas of apples largely determines the flavour profile of the finished product. Located in the Niagara Peninsula, Chudleigh’s orchard is in the sweet spot.
Here’s why.
In the late summer and early fall in the Niagara Peninsula, the days are warm, but the nights are cool. This is the perfect weather for the Northern Spy Apple-the best baking apple and only apple we use in our Blossoms.
These warm days and cool nights produce a sugar – acid balance (Brix) in the Northern Spy apples that doesn’t occur in any other region.
Chudleigh’s never freezes or pre-cooks the Northern Spy apples. After all, we could never capture the natural flavours and textures of the Northern Spy if the apple was pre-cooked or frozen before baking.
The apples are freshly peeled, then sliced- not wedged, and mixed gently with spices. There is very little liquid added to the mix. It really is just sliced apples.
