Peter Holder, Elizabeth Mackay and Anne O’Keefe, Partners at Corporate Advisory and Restructuring specialists Zolfo Cooper, were appointed Joint Administrators over Choices Care At Home Limited, Choices Holdings Limited, Choices Group Limited and Choices Community Services Limited (together the Group) on 3 August 2011.

The Group operates a range of care services providing supported living, domiciliary care and residential services to approximately 800 service users with learning disabilities throughout Scotland and the North East of England. The Group employs approximately 1,400 staff. The Joint Administrators were appointed following ongoing difficulties with the Group’s cash flow.

Upon appointment, the Administrators immediately effected a sale of the supported living business to Mears Care Scotland Limited. Staff employed in this division, of which there are approximately 500, will transfer across to their new employer with immediate effect and services will continue to be provided with no interruption to users.

Following this sale, the Administrators will continue to trade the registered services business and domiciliary care business as normal with a view to selling these as going concerns. A sale process has been commenced and the Administrators have already received enquiries from a number of interested parties. During this process, services will continue to be provided as normal with no interruption to users. All staff employed in the registered services business and domiciliary care business continue to be employed as normal.

Peter Holder, Partner at Zolfo Cooper said: “The key aspect all along in this process has been to ensure that services continue to be provided to all users without interruption. We are extremely pleased therefore to have agreed a swift sale of the supported living business and wish all parties concerned well in their respective futures as they continue to provide services to users.

“Our focus is very much on securing a suitable buyer for the remaining businesses. We have already received a number of enquiries from interested parties and would welcome further expressions of interest. In the meantime, we will continue to ensure that service users experience no disruption to the quality care they are accustomed to.”

Peter King queries Bin Laden film White House access « Xenophilia ...

A senior Republican has called for an inquiry into reports the White House fed secrets about the killing of Osama Bin Laden to Hollywood film-makers.

Peter King, chair of the House of Representatives homeland security committee, cited a report suggesting the White House hopes the film will boost President Obama’s election bid.

New York Times writer Maureen Dowd said film-makers had “top-level access”.

The White House called that report – and Mr King’s claims – “ridiculous”.

Bin Laden, the al-Qaeda leader who had spent almost a decade in hiding since fleeing Afghanistan in late 2001, was killed in May in a raid into Pakistan by members of an elite Navy Seals special forces team.

The killing of the man behind the 9/11 terror attacks marked the recent high point in Mr Obama’s presidency.

Since then the president has been dogged by joblessness, a sluggish economy and partisan bickering and gridlock in Washington and has seen his approval rating slip. …
